I finally had some extra time to get some of my new frames posted on my ArtFire site.  This first one was inspired by the Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild Celtic challenge.  I have seen several tutorials for faux leather and just love the look.  I combined this with one of my celtic knot stamps and voila!  What do you think?

My daughter saw another frame I made using a sort of flower stamp.  Green is her favorite color and she loves sunflowers, which the stamp reminded her of.  So, she asked me to make her one.  Of course, I did, however when she saw it, she said it didn't look like a sunflower at all.  Oh well, I still like it.

I have a lot more ideas on other frames to make and want to start making them larger.  Here is a bigger one that is not finished yet.  It's made with stamped clay brushed with copper pearlex powder, that I cut into pieces for a mosaic type style.  Have to finish the grouting yet.

It's the first time I have attempted this technique, so I am still critiquing the outcome.  May have to tweek some here and there on my next one, but....live and learn, right?

It's a zoo out there

Time for another weekly blog roll.  "Zoo" seems to be the topic this week, but the actual title can lead one down several paths.  Think...crazy, chaos, frantic, overwhelming, you know what I mean.  I think I'd prefer to think of the regular "zoo" which would bring to mind thoughts of warmer weather, fun with the family, and of course, the animals.

Several years ago, we went to the San Diego zoo and my brother-in-law was trying to sneek up on a peacock.  Needless to say, he couldn't!  I love peacocks.  These colorful earrings are made by Creative Critters.

Time is flying by!

Hi everyone!  I can't believe it's almost March.  I know, it's been a while since I wrote.  A lot going on, and well, you know how it is.  With everything else that has been happening, I have been trying to expand my creativity.  Started making picture frames and will hopefully have some pictures soon and post them. 

I started a website....http://www.dreamweaversdesigns.net/  and am slowly building it.  Hope you have a chance to look through it and don't forget to leave comments and thoughts!

I also start a Pinterest board.  http://pinterest.com/dreamweaversjw/  Wow, talk about addicting.  For those of you not familiar with Pinterest, it is another networking arena and is huge!  You have to be invited to open your site, then you have the freedom to browse other boards and "repin" pictures of any and everything you can imagine.  Have a look, but I warn you, you can end up spending a lot of time looking around.

The blog roll has started again for the Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild of Artfire.  This weeks topic is hearts.  Appropriate, considering we are only a little over three weeks away from Valentines day.  My, how quickly time passes.  I know that a lot of the Smooshers have been hard at work getting out their items in time for the holiday.  Problem is, there are so many great items, it's hard to choose just a few for this blog. 

What do you think of when you think of hearts?  Love of course, red of course {though a fellow smoosher thinks of green!}, Valentines Day... absolutely of course, possibly broken {hopefully not}, and for us medical people.....love and health.  So, whatever comes to your mind when you hear the word, I hope you enjoy these selections.

It's done!  My second entry {and this is a first...to actually do two things 8^)} for the Valentines challenge with the Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild of Artfire.  I actually drew up this idea and went for it.  Most of the time, what I have in mind or draw, does not turn out quite the way I imagined.  I was very pleased with the trinket box, and now, this necklace looks pretty much like I thought it would.  Must be doing something right!

Polymer Clay Smooshers challenge 2nd item

I have the components for my second piece in this months challenge made.  I just have to determine how I want to put it together and get it done!  It's wonderful to see all the works being created by the other smooshers.  I am looking forward to seeing everything people come up with.

Ok, I finished my first item for the Valentine's Polymer Clay Smoosher's Guild challenge. 

The trinket box is made entirely of polymer clay and embellished with pink tipped white briar roses and white hearts.  Hope you like it.

If I have enough time, I plan to make another piece for the challenge.  This is fun, I have to admit.  It is really making me take a step outside my comfort zone, but is forcing me to take things slow and really make sure I do it right.  I am very happy with the way this one turned out.  Time to get creative and think up some additional ideas for other trinket boxes.

1st Smoosher challenge of 2012

Happy New Year everyone!  It's time for a new challenge for the polymer clay smooshers guild.  The topic is Valentine's Day.  I'm in the process of making mine now {hope it turns out!}  Let's say it's pink, white, green and maybe shiny.  Any guesses???  Stay tuned for pictures!

Saying goodbye to 2011

Well, it's almost here.....2012.  Wow, last year flew by.  2011 saw the birth of a fourth grandchild, a boy, who grows more beautiful each day.  He is always smiling and happy and brings joy to my heart.  We were limited in the number of shows we were able to do, but, I continued to work with my polymer clay.  

I know we all hold dreams and wishes for the new year, some make resolutions, others wish for things like good health and happiness.  My wish, in addition to health and happiness, is for more room and time to continue my clay journey as well as inspiration to continue to develop unique designs that bring joy to those who buy my pieces.   Whatever your wishes or resolutions may be, I hope you are successful in your endeavors.
